Have you ever experimented with smiling at strangers? It can have quite an effect. Some people won't respond well at all, but other times, you can visibly brighten someone's day....
I have taken to saying 'good morning' to everyone I see regularly on my way to work. Some took a few days but they all acknowledge me now - at least with a smile (but are probably thinking - what a weirdo). What are us Brits like?
